Bio:

Michael Best is the Principal of Baker County K-12 School in Newton, GA. As the school leader, Mr. Best created the school motto “Beardown” which means for all students and staff members to have a laser shop focus on every task attempted. Under his leadership, he wants the school to present a positive outlook, and promote a clean, safe environment for students and staff members. Mr. Best has an open door policy and invites all parents and guardians to stop by and meet with him with any concerns.

 

Previously, Mr.Best worked in the Grady County School System in Cairo, GA for 22 years. He was a classroom teacher and administrator. Mr. Best also worked in radio broadcasting prior to becoming an educator and is a member of the Grady County Sports Hall of Fame.

 

As Principal, Mr. Best’s goals include closing the achievement gaps in math and ELA in all grades, preparing all students for life after high school with post-secondary options that will fit individual student’s needs, assure that a curriculum is taught that aligns with the state department of education goals, create professional learning communities with teachers that is focused on improving student learning and consistently evaluate teachers fairly and offer positive encouragement and support.

 

Mr. Best is committed to embrace diversity and cultural differences of all students and provide a safe, effective learning community, free of harassment and intolerance for all students and staff members.
