Carla Morey is the self-contain Special Education teacher for middle and high school at Baker County in Newton, Georgia. She graduated from Valdosta State University with a BFA in Speech Communications/Public Relations. After starting a family, Carla decided to move into the world of education in 2011. She was the Middle Grades English Language Arts teacher at Westwood Schools for 5 years. She was also the Jr. Varsity Softball coach as well as the Jr. Varsity girls track coach. In 2016, she decided to move into the public school system at Mitchell County Middle School where she was the Reading Horizons Specialist for the 5th grade. After having the opportunity to work with some children with special needs, she quickly realized her passion was in special education. She pursued that desire and moved to Baker County School the following school year. Mrs. Morey believes in the quote by George Evans, “All students can learn, just not the same day, or in the same way.”
