Employee Acceptable Internet Usage Policy:

 

Purpose: This policy aims to ensure appropriate and productive Internet use by Baker County School System employees. This policy provides guidelines to prevent misuse and to maintain a safe, professional, and positive online environment.

Scope: This policy applies to all employees, contractors, and temporary Baker County School System staff with access to the school's internet and computer systems.

 

Policy:

Appropriate Use:

    • Employees are expected to use the Internet for educational, professional, and administrative purposes.
    • Personal use is permissible during breaks or non-working hours but must adhere to the guidelines outlined in this policy.

Prohibited Activities:

    • Accessing, downloading, or distributing inappropriate, offensive, or illegal content.
    • Engaging in online activities can harm the reputation of the Baker County School System.
    • Using the Internet for personal financial gain or non-school-related commercial activities
    • Downloading unauthorized software or applications.

Safety and Privacy:

    • Employees should not disclose confidential information about students, staff, or school operations online.
    • Personal data should be shared with caution.
    • Employees must immediately report any suspicious emails or potential security threats to the IT department.

Social Media:

    • When representing the Baker County School System on social media, employees must maintain professionalism and adhere to the school's communication guidelines.
    • Personal opinions should be clearly identified and not presented as the views of the Baker County School System.

Monitoring:

    • The Baker County School System reserves the right to monitor internet usage to ensure compliance with this policy.
    • Any violation may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination.

Software and Downloads:

    • Only authorized personnel are permitted to install software on school computers.
    • Employees must ensure that downloads are virus-free and compatible with the school's systems.

Bandwidth and Network Resources:

    • Streaming non-educational content, especially during peak hours, should be minimized to ensure bandwidth availability for educational purposes.

 

Consequences for Violation: Violations of this policy may result in disciplinary action, including termination. In some cases, legal action may also be pursued.

 

Review and Updates: This policy will be reviewed annually and updated as necessary to address new technological developments and potential risks.

 

Acknowledgment: All employees must sign an acknowledgment form stating that they have read, understood, and agreed to comply with the Employee Acceptable Internet Usage Policy.
