Principal's Corner

Dear Baker County Community,

As the incoming principal of Baker County Schools, I would like to personally welcome you to the 2022–2023 school year.  I am grateful that you have given the faculty and staff the opportunity to educate and make a difference in the life of your child.  I am looking forward to a great school year.

Classes will begin on Tuesday, August 1, 2022, at 7:20 AM.  If you have not completed your application to register for the 2022-2023 school year, then please drop by the front office from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Monday through Friday.  If you have any questions about enrollment, please call 229-745-5274, or you are welcome to stop by my office at any time during the hours of 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. as well.

For the school year, we will open the doors at 7:20 AM for students to begin eating breakfast.  School will dismiss at 3:05 PM each day.  We are currently operating as a normal school year, with all students and learning taking place on campus.  We will continue to monitor and communicate with our local health department when it comes to making decisions about the health and safety of our students.

We have continued to build a strong staff at Baker County Schools with the main idea of giving our students the best opportunity to learn inside and outside of the classroom.  We have one of the strongest staffs in our area, from top to bottom.  The students are the reason that our staff will continue to put in the time and effort to make this school year a success.  We have shown gains in many areas over the last year and are looking forward to many more gains this year.

Our athletic program is continuing to become a main attraction in our community.  On Friday nights, we will continue to have football games played on our campus as we look forward to growing with this sport.  Our volleyball and basketball teams have continued to put in work throughout the summer.  The spring sports (baseball and track) will get going at the beginning of 2023.  We have a lot of hope and promise on the horizon in athletics.

Two of the biggest additions and opportunities for our students in the upcoming year will be the establishment of a high school band and the construction of our agricultural education center.  The band will be under new leadership with aspirations to give our students more opportunities to display their talents for our community.  For the agricultural education center, we will give our students an opportunity that hasn’t ever existed for Baker County residents.  We will be able to offer skills that can be applied outside of the school and, more importantly, here in the rural, farming community of Baker County.

Again, I would like to thank you all for this opportunity and for placing your faith in our school system.  I look forward to getting to know our students, parents, and guardians more throughout the upcoming year.  My door is always open for parents, guardians, and community members that would like to come in to talk about our school and future plans.

Sincerely,
