hello I'm Roy Brooks superintendent for Baker County Schools thank you for serving on our Facilities Review over the next few minutes we would like to introduce you to our school we're working hard to make our school a viable choice for families we're getting better each and every day we are focused on providing the very best environment for teaching and learning thank you schools is located in Southwest Georgia and serves 300 students the school and Board of Education are located within the city limits of Newton 73.5% of Baker County student population are minority students with 51.5% of students being black 15.3 % being Hispanic 26.5% being white and 6.7% being multi-racial or other it is estimated that 85% of Baker County students qualify for free or reduced lunch and since 2015 Baker County has participated in the USDA Community eligible provision serving free breakfast and lunch to every student in Baker County Baker County has become known for its outstanding services to students with special needs becoming a destination of choice for special needs children outside of the district this gives Baker County a sped population of 18% in response to the co 19 pandemic biker County Schools offered students and parents 2 options in-person instruction with stringent health and safety guidelines as well as remote classroom synchronous instruction with Baker County Teachers 97 understand of students attend classes in person and 3% attend class remotely these options have given Baker County the ability to grow amid a pandemic Baker County Schools consists of 1 School 3K 312 Baker County K through 12 school is unique in that it is 1 of the last remaining K12 schools in the state with all students under 1 roof Baker County K through 12 school has an enrollment of 300 students and now an overview of our facilities Baker County k312 School opened in 2001 it features age appropriate classrooms a multi-purpose gym and weight room in 2010 a media center remodeled in 2018 and a newly added Greenhouse for our ad program Baker County K12 school was also thrilled to add a football field to its campus in 2021 and bring football to Baker County for the first time in its history this was truly a great accomplishment for the district and a wonderful addition for Baker County students 20 years old Baker County K through 12 school is not without its Pro problems with the roof flooring and restrooms needing to be renovated and renewed Baker counties 5-year facility plan calls for a new roof for the school new flooring throughout new kitchen equipment as well as renovating in remodeling all restrooms campus wide Baker County School Endeavors to provide up-to-date classrooms and facilities for the students of today while continuing to use the facilities that the community has invested in over the years waitress this video has provided you with an overview of our school systems facilities as well as plans for improvements over the next 5 Years thank you for your support of Baker County Schools as we plan and prepare for the future
